Are cold water tanks any good? All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Just moved to London and discovered that the cold water runs up to a tank in the loft before being distributed around the house. I don't really like this idea and I haven't had it in previous houses, but I am wondering whether it is necessary in London due to very low water pressure - is this right?

I am looking to install a new shower and maybe a new (combi) boiler, if I change the water to direct feed, will this present any problems for the new fittings?

Or should I just leave it as it, and make sure it is covered and safe?

Hi,
During peak times, breakfast/teatime the water pressure will more than likely be very poor, so your cwsc is great. Electric showers and combi boilers can be used on indirect and direct but have a min working water pressure/flow rate. So if you go direct, then peak pressure may not be enough as you have said.
