Combi boilers got their bad reputation when the manufacturing and installation was in its infancy and there were poor quality equipment was fitted by engineers who had little experience with this method of heating.
Now combis are "adolescents" boiler manufacturers have at last got to grips with much of the reliability issues. Installers and specifiers now have far more experience which makes them more able to avoid the poorer quality models and makes.
Now we see installers being able to choose favourites based on actual experience rather than brochure blurb. (Mines Vaillant by the way.)
Provided the combi is installed and maintained correctly, there is every reason to believe its lifespan will exceed the manufacturers estimates.
