Balanced Flue

by dobbs » Sat Nov 17, 2007 4:22 pm

Hi,

I have recently bought a balanced flue fire, I have removed the old fire and fire brick that it used as I have been told that the flue in my house is rubbish, so I went down the balanced flue option so I don't have to use the flue in my house. I have a corgi mate who will fit the fire so don't have to worry about that bit, Now I have removed the old fire brick and has left a gap in the cavity wall a couple of friends have told me to get some expanding foam (fire proof) and squirt this in the cavity so I can box in the fire, Is this correct the other option I came up with is to put some fireproof insulation into the cavity, hope this makes sense, you help is greatly appreciated.
