Evening,

Just discovered this site, so you'll have to forgive if the item has been mentioned before.
Just bought a house and the previous owner must had been laughing. Been here six months and have deep, black mould(?) coming throught MOST of the silicone around the shower unit.
Is there a way co removing this moul or is it strip bakc and replace all of the sealant. Also does this advertised 'mould-resistant' silicone work.

You can get mildew spray, or even bleach will kill this off. Mould will be there for a reason though, so make sure you adequately ventilate the bathroom too.

Mould grows in constantly damp locations usually caused by lack of ventilation.

Some silicone sealants now contain Microban and the one I use has a 10 year guarantee against mould growth. But it's only been available for a few years so we shall see!
