Bathroom Rendering and How to Prepare Bricks for Render

Post by harryuk147 » Sun May 29, 2016 10:37 pm

hello,

I wish to render my bathroom walls, they are double skin cavity walls, nothing major. I wish to know how to prepare the bricks? Does anything need to be done to them or can they be cleaned up and wet down? When i run my hand along them, they feel kind of smooth, i am a bit worried that the render will not adhere properly.

Can anyone help me,

Thank you

if you want to render the wall, then you need to paint a pva solution on the wall first.
If its internal, have you considered dry lining?

Hello. I wish to render only, not board anything. I am reading that i should rake the joints out also, is this correct? the bricks are quite smooth.

ok then, use SBR additive and mix in a couple of cups of cement, it forms a paste that when set will give you a good key for the render.
