Bathroom ventilation and motorised back draft damper

by Sudbury Steve » Thu Feb 03, 2022 7:00 pm

This is my first post so please be gentle, I am a very experienced DIYer and an electrical engineer by trade. I am completly re- plumbing my bathroom. I want to fit a motorised back draft damper into the extractor fan ducting so when the fan is on the damper is open and when its off its closed so I don't have a 110mm hole from outside to in just relying on the fan impeller to stop the cold. I am struggling to find such a bit of kit.I think it needs to be volts on open and volts off spring closed. Please dont suggest any type of just mechanical damper, I have some of those and they just rattle when its windy

Hi Sudbury Steve,
Possibly easiest and cheapest to buy an extractor with an inbuilt shutter system and use this. There are lots on the market.
