Bitumen - melted, need to remelt and flatten

by tigerstyle25 » Sun Oct 12, 2008 11:02 pm

Hi everyone,

I've had a DIY disaster in my rented flat - had a small disposable barbeque today, it wasn't even very hot - but it has melted the bitumen on the balcony.

I now have an area about 25" by 12" that is freshly melted and raised above the rest of the balcony.

Can anyone suggest an easy way to level this off? Without redoing the whole area, and as cheaply as possible.

Ideally I'd like to keep my deposit - and not to lose it over a £1 barbeque...

Thanks very much!

David

Hi

Have you had a look at the DIY Projects area, especially the project entitled "Flat Roof Repairs": https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/repairflatroof.htm This may provide you with the information you need or you can also contact the presenters of this forum Permaroof as they have much experience in this field.

Regards
