BLACK GROUT GONE GREY..

by diddydiner » Sat May 09, 2009 2:08 am

HI
I HAVE RECENTLY HAD BLACK PORCALEIN TILES LAID, AND HAD BLACK GROUT TO FINISH. THE GROUT HAS DRIED GREY WHICH IM NOT KEEN ON, SO IS THERE ANYHING I COULD USE TO TAKE IT BACK TO BLACK .
I ALSO THINK THAT THE TILES DONT SEEM TO BE AS SHINEY AS THEY WERE BEFORE WE LAID THEM A FEW WEEKS AGO, SO ANY SUGGESTIONS ON THAT ONE TOO. THANKS.

Did you lay them or did you get someone to lay them for you?

If its a Mapei grout its excellent stuff (although not that easy to work with for a DIYer) and it needs mixing very very well and a minimum of washing off whilst its still wet otherwise this happens. The best solution is to dig it out and start again. If you paid someone to do it I'd suggest you get them back in.

What so you mean by "don't seem to be as shiny". Have you not cleaned all the grout off the surface or have they just got dirty?

Cheers
