Bleaching floorboards

by fuzzyfelt » Wed May 16, 2007 10:58 am

Hi - can anyone tell me how I lighten the appearance of a bare untreated floor before a varnish or oil is applied?
I've heard that bleaching floorboards achieves this but bo not know the quantity of bleach required (is it neat or diluted) or how to apply it.
Many thanks in advance. :D

Put bleaching wood into google and contact the suppliers of the bleach you choose. They all vary in amount needed and you are the only one who knows how bleached you want the floor to look.

i have seen this done before.they made a strong solution of bleach/water and applied it with a scrubbing brush.it was then left for a couple of hours before being rinsed with clean water, and left to dry completely
