Block paver driveway breaching DPC and causing damp issues

by Petebrown2006 » Sun Sep 19, 2021 7:52 am

Hi All,

I have a damp issue due to a block paved driveway breaching the DPC / it was built up and covering air bricks. I have lifted the first 2 rows of brick, to find the base is concrete. Suggestions are that I break the concrete out, excavate and then back fill with 40-50mm stones. The DPC is just above the air bricks shown in the picture

However, to avoid breaking out the concrete do you think the I could drill drainage holes in to the slab instead?

If I do need to break out the concrete, would you suggest a jack hammer?

Hi petebrown2006
You really need 150mm of exposed brickwork under the DPC. If you cannot achieve this you will have to cut out the concrete base.
