I'll answer question as I interpret it!.
You don't generally, in my experience, curve the pattern, you lay your first run straight, normally in the centre of the longest stretch. Then just go back and forth along that first run building the pattern. always parrallel to that first straight run.
Then to finish, use a grinder to cut your "soldier" edging in - subsequently there will be a radius in the "soldier" border, if this is eccessive you can cut some angled blocks to fill the gaps, this finishing touch can ruin an otherwise good job, if done badly.
