Brick cutting All manner of questions and solutions to problems and issues surrounding the subject of brickwork, blockwork and stonework

My Garage has a side wooden window and I want to remove it and cut out some brickwork to install a UPVC door in it's place.

I am asking for advice from someone that has experience in brick cutting.

The wall is 1 brick thick and about 2 1/2 feet each side.

I could buy a hand saw suitable for cutting bricks £12.99.
I could hire an electric 9 inch disc cutter £15 a day plus VAT
I could hire a petrol disc cutter for £38 a day plus VAT
I could hire an Aligator saw £38 a day plus VAT

hi,the petrol cutter will go through brickwork very easily,it also can be joined to a hose pipe to minimise the dust. fix a 2x1 batten to the wall and use this as a guide for the blade,you will then get a straight cut.let us know how you get on.
