Brick Pointing and Void

by KingShaves » Sat Jun 20, 2026 4:17 pm

Hi there. Looking for some advice on how to fix up the brickwork/pointing around this bay window - happy with a short term fix to see me through a year or a long term fix of course. The walls are solid, that said there seems to be a narrow void which is 10cm or so deep. Please help! Thanks you :-)

Hi kingshaves.
It looks like the bay is moving outwards - presumably you have similar tapering cracks on the inside.
The most likely cause is that the outer side of the bay is sinking. Check the window cill with a level to see if it’s sloping downwards towards the front of the bay, if it is it’s time to get a surveyor in.
Regards S
