Building a 5ft Boundary Wall

by Stuart_253 » Tue Jun 12, 2007 8:50 pm

I have been looking into building a single thickness outside wall 1.5mtr high using standard 440 x 210 x 100mm concrete blocks but not sure if this height can be achieved by using this method. I am intending to use pillars in the wall, would this make the wall strong enough. Could you please advise. If not possible could you advise on how I can achieve this hieght. Thank you.

100mm with piers should be fine for this height Stuart.

the only thing i would say about garden walls from masonry is they can fall over and KILL you. there has been a lot of cases of this so i would recommend contacting your local Building Control at the council and they sometimes have a wall guide which sets out what height to thickness is required for a safe wall.
