This is a camel coloured carpet and the stain (caused by hot iron) is dark & sticky, like rubber.Trying to clean it with supermarket-bought carpet cleaner made it even worse. What can I do? My mother-in-law suggested that I leave it to dry and call a carpet fitter. Will it not cost a fortune to repair?

cut out an existing piece from under a piece of furniture that you rarely move and swap it with the marked piece
