Can anyone explain how rising gate hinges work

Post by francis2854 » Fri Apr 29, 2016 6:44 pm

Can anyone explain how these hinges work?

I've used rising door hinges before in the house, however,I've had some driveway gates made, but, the drive rises from the road, and, the road is also on a hill!
The gates will be altered to go with the gradient of the hill, but the joiner says he needs rising hinges to lift the gate as it opens.
I've had a look at some of these online, but I can't see how they operate.
I'm just wanting to get some info before I order them at £30 -40 a go.

rising hinges raise the gate up as it is opened, the more you open the gate
the higher the gate will lift off the ground.
