can central heating still run is mains water tap off?

I want to turn off my mains water tap because bathroom tap is leaking and water coming up through bathroom carpet. Is it safe to do so while the central heating system is still on? Don't want to pay 'emergency call out plumber prices' for a Sunday. Will call plumber out on Monday.

Turn off your mains cold water supply and use the heating, not sure of your system set up -

Combi's if the DHW section is drained and the boiler is still used it may cause damage.

Tank/cylinder, using the hot water the cylinder/tank shouldn't run dry, but as I don't know your system set-up. I would try not to use the hot water or if you do, turn the cold water back on - to replenish the water lost.
