Can I lay floorboards directly ontop of screeded floor? ahh! Help, advice, information, answers and tips on all types of flooring from laminate and carpet to timber and vinyl

I have screeded half of my extention to accept cerramic tiles, now the wife has changed her mind and wants wooden floor boards! ( TYPICAL!!) :x

Apart from the height diffence can I lay floor boards ontop of screed or does it need opposing battening?

I have screwed battens to the floor in my cottage and then nailed oak floorboards to them. I don't think laying ordinary floorboards directly is a good idea. You could fit the real wood flooring which clips together as a floating floor.

Yes you can lay floorboards to a screeded floor.

The only requirement is that the screed is level and dry and the room conditions are ready to accept the floor. ie has all the plastering been completed?
