Hi,
I want to add a new double socket in my living room. By a lucky co-incidence the new socket is on the opposite side of the wall from a double socket in the kitchen.
My intention was to simply drill a hole from the socket in the kitchen through to the living room and add the new socket to the wall on the other side - the total cable run for the new socket would be about 6 inches!
Some of the research I've done seems to indicate that I'm not allowed to run power cables through a wall. It seems I have to run them under the surface, this would involve chasing a new cable run down the wall in the living room, and a lot of re-decorating afterwards.
So what's the situation? Can I thread the new wire straight through a hole in the wall? Or do I need to drop a new cable run down from the attic?
