We have excavated our fireplace ready to install a wood burner. The builder has installed a concrete lintel higher than before to allow for the extra height required for the wood burner but we are left with the exposed precast concrete gather far too low. Can the gather be removed and the clay chimney pots creating the chimney be supported another way? Advice please ...
