Prior to redecorating and plastering a room I am planning to remove two wall lights and am unsure of how to safely 'cap' the cable off and put them back inside the wall. I was wondering if the cables could be fixed to a sort of socket type cap that could then be put back flush into the wall. I would like to keep them viable for future use should I wish to restablish the lights.

I would fit clock connection units. The regulations require the position of cables within a wall to be identified and to create the permitted zone there must be an electrical unit in the wall and the clock connection unit is about the smallest unit I know of.

Eric, thank you. I don't fully understand your answer as I do not know what a clock connection unit is. I cannot find anything about them/it elsewhere on the internet. Are they known as anything else? Matt
