Ceiling wirng in bathroom

by Rookie » Sun Mar 18, 2007 5:20 pm

Hi, I have just purchased a ceiling light for my bathroom, the wiring that goes in to the block from the light is simple (blue, red and yellow). The wiring from my celing however is different, Earth, black wire with red sleeve, two blacks and one blue.

The 3 reds are taped. How do I connect please?

You have a loop in system by the sound of it.
The reds taped together are the phase in/out and the one marked is the switch link.
This is the non harmonised wiring system.
You are best advised to get a Part P registered person (NAPIT) to do the work for you as it is located in a special location.
The circuit should be protected by an RCD 30ma min.
Lighting circuits can be tricky for those not expereienced in wiring them and you can sometimes end up in a complete mess if you start to connect to them.
