CH&DHW

I have a 3 bed house and soon a one bath/shower and a separate En-suit shower. There is only my wife and I here for 90% of the time. I need a new boiler [according to BG because they claim that I will not be able to get spares for my Kingfisher II boiler]. So I thought of installing a Glowworm Ultracom 38cxi Combi for our use and on the rare occasions we have visitors I would use a pressurised Cylinder like a Megaflow with Immersion heater to serve one of the showers. Is this a stupid idea?

Frankly, I would just fit the combi to do the lot. I don't see the point in spending vast sums on the extra that will hardly be used.

Combi's are fine providing the incoming water pressure is good and only one shower is used at a time which should be easy in your case.

If you are worried about it, fit an electric shower in the second bathroom.

Mind you, there could still be water pressure issues with operating two showers at once, but that's not going to be any different if a Megaflow is fitted.
