change conservatory roof

by star1234 » Sat Sep 06, 2008 1:25 pm

Hi,

i wish to change my conservatory roof to a solid roof, what would be involved to do this, the conservatory is a dwarf wall lean to conservatory would adding pillers to the front and bringing the roof out further be enough to support the weight of the roof so that we had an additional canopy area to the front of the conservatory.

thanks

the work you are proposing will require building regs approval, possibly even planning consent so its best to find out first if these are required to save issues at a later date.

A conservatory, by building regulations definition has 2/3 of the roof in translucent material and 1/2 of the walls. A sharp surveyor will pick this up when you come to seel and it could catch you out.

Sorry to sound negative, but it may be for the best in the long run.
