Change of bath

by DIY beginner » Mon Nov 12, 2007 10:10 am

I want to change the position of the bath from under a window, 90 degrees to allow a shower to be used above as the bath will then be positioned along a wall. The problem I have is that the floor joists will run the length bath rather than the width.

How do I ensure that there is enough support so that the bath does not end up downstairs? Additional problem is that the joists appear to be 'suspended' as they are over the stairs so do not run the length of the property!

Any help welcome

the joists must be sitting across two walls exterior to interior or across two interior walls so long as the joists are firm and the floor boards are in good order it will not be a problem, but to put your mind at ease why not place a 15mm board under the bath so that all the legs are on it and spread the load that way
