Hi to all. Apologies for the plumbing style start, but my inquiry IS electrical.
Our 8.5KW shower (replacing an older 7KW one) was judged by her indoors not to be up to standard. I tried swapping the old shower head onto it which was fine for one use, then the pressure relief device blew on the second go - I should have known.. plus no point in replacing that as she'd still be unhappy!
So I've got a good price on a Mira Advance shower which would take account of our combi boiler and provide a good, strong jet of water. This shower is rated at 8.7KW.
My Wylex CU has a dedicated "B32" MCB (30A??) for the shower on the side protected by an 80A RCCB. The main switch is rated at 100A.
I suspect that extra 0.2KW will tip the balance - would a 40A MCB be necessary?
I also have 6mm wire to the shower - will that be enough?
