changing power shower to thermostatic one

by ghostridet » Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:42 pm

Hi, we need to replace an old Mira 100 Supajet power shower with either a thermostatic or electric one. It seems that the old shower had a separate power unit, it has two switches on the outside of bathroom wall; we've got a new oil combi boiler and the old shower is not compatible. Is it possible to replace it preferably with a new thermostatic one without having to rip the walls of the bathroom open?

It would depend on where the pipes that supply your current shower are as to if you would have to "rip the wall out" to fit a new shower.
As for an electric shower you would need to have a large (10mm cable) installed as a good electric shower uses 10 KWatts (More than 3 electric kettles at the same time)
Why not ask who ever is installing your boiler what they suggest, after all they are there and can see what you have. I would only suggest electric shower as a last resort/back up. The shower itself is not that bad to buy, (Less than £200) but they cost a lot to run.
