We have installed chipboard floors, 19mm T&G, glued joints and glued to joists. After a year or so the floors started to squeak so we pulled carpets up and screwed the boards to joists but the squeaking has come back. It appears we should have used a 22mm because the joist centres are 600mm. Is there a method of rectifying this without having to rip up all 19mm? Could a 4mm ply be bonded to the top of 19mm to thicken up to the 22mm? This has been done in 4nr plots (houses) which are now fully furnished and have people living in them!!!
