Chipboard repair?

Post by bxcfilm » Thu Apr 10, 2025 3:50 pm

I hope I’ve got the right forum. 20 years ago, I bought a house with enough cupboards but not enough drawers in the kitchen. The kitchen units were maybe 5 years old then. I managed to fit drawers in one of the cupboards, but now, as you can see in the photos, one of the pairs of runners have dropped. There’s not enough wood there any more to hold the screws. Is there some kind of filler which is strong enough to make the repair? It doesn’t have to be pretty, just strong enough to hold the weight of the drawer. What do you think?

Hi bxcfilm,
Buy some 2-part wood filler, this will fill all the holes and form a sound base.
Keep the rear fixing in place so you can pivot the rail back into the correct position, mark the top of the rail before you start. Drill a pilot hole in the seat filler so you don’t break it up fitting the screw.
Regards S
