Choosing a portable air conditionner (without exhaust)

by Alarev » Wed Apr 13, 2022 10:56 pm

Some time ago I wrote an article about mobile air conditioners without exhaust for a shopping guide site. I spent some time between researching and writing it but I don't know, I'm not totally happy with it and I'm considering reworking it.
I think I've got my head in the sand a bit too much and I'm having a bit of trouble letting go of how I can improve it, hence my coming to this forum. I'd like to ask for expert advice in the field to maybe get some new leads.

So if anyone would be so kind as to help me, that would be really great:
On what criteria do you base your choice for the purchase of a mobile air conditioner?
Is there a topic that is essential for a good buying guide on the subject?

Thank you in advance for your answers. It's really nice of you to take the time to help me :)

Hello, I would gladly help you with that if you could provide a link to your guide !
My first criteria always is the price of the product to be honest but of course there are other important ones such as the power, the noise but also the look.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to help me :)
One of my biggest issue was finding products available in the UK so if you could help me with what people go for there that would be a great help.

I wonder what you mean by without exhaust, my first introduction to AC's was the box in the wall, this was Algeria, but same type also in Hong Kong and Turkey so seem common.

Some worked in reverse to heat, but most had simple mineral insulated elements.

They worked very well.

However they need to hole in the wall, so in the UK the main type has a pipe out of a window, the main problem is the air in the room is blown out through the pipe, and it means in the main a window open, in my case I use the chimney for the open hearth fire, so maintaining security.

And there is also the type which is two sections with much smaller pipes out of the window.

My Lidi Comfee 2 kW unit is not really good enough to cool our large living room 22 foot x 24 foot. But it will keep it cool if switched on before the room heats up.
