Cistern Suddenly Overflows into Bowl and Water Level in Cistern High

by david71 » Sun Jun 25, 2017 1:41 pm

Hi,
I wonder if anybody can help me. Our toilet has suddenly started overfilling after flushing and water runs into the bowl. I have taken the lid off the cistern and can see the water level is unusually high and can see that when filling up the water runs into the overflow for about 3 seconds before cutting off. I am not a DIY guy and have spent about an hour looking at forums to see if there is a simple adjustment but couldn't find anything that was similar.
The toilet is a dual flush and the flush has a semi-circular slider. The water inlet mechanism (syphon?) is WDL.
I know it's difficult to answer a question without specific information but don't know what else you might need to know. Happy to provide more info if you let me know.
Guess my question is can this issue be fixed easily or do I need to get a new something or other.
Any help will be much appreciated.
All the best,
David

Try adjusting the float, so that it cuts off below the overflow level.
If you have a picture of the float, it maybe possible to instruct you on this. Some are just altered by screw but others have clips.
