Cold Water Tank Problem

by dazer » Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:40 pm

Hope someone can help with this - for the last 2 days my cold water tank in the attic has not been automatically refilling. I cannot easily reach the tank so what I did was just hit the side with a broomhandle and immediately the water started going in.

Does this sound like the float is touching the side of the tank and sticking? It has been unusually hot over the last 2 days and i wonder if heat expansion is causing the float and tank side to touch?

thanks

dazer,
Replace the ball valve complete and don't forget to flush out the pipe before fitting the new valve.
end

Hi,

Service or change the valve.

You need to check the float and valve, it's sometimes easier to replace the valve rather than trying to repair, it may just be the float or the valve may be sticking also - pretty straight forward job if you can overcome the access problem.
