Collapsed Hearth in Upstairs Bedroom - How to Repair?

Post by argente » Fri Dec 05, 2014 12:05 am

I'm renovating a terraced house and after removing the carpet in the upstairs bedroom I found the original base of the hearth to be totally broken!! I've removed the large pieces of concrete to find what looks like hard-core underneath.
I'm unsure of how to repair it, don't want to add too much weight. I don't want the ceiling to come through downstairs!!!
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

you can mix a lightweight concrete with vermiculite to fill in the area
