Compound Mitre Saw Size for Cutting Skirting

Post by Bazooka Joe » Mon May 20, 2019 2:59 pm

Hi All
I'm considering buying a compound mitre saw to mitre 6" skirting board at 45 degrees but I'm not sure what size blade is required for that size skirting.
I'm assuming that I need to cut the board upright.
Advice and suggestions appreciated.
Thanks in advance

As you only need to cut a 45 angle then a 90 up to just short of the top of the skirting. I use a good old fashion hand or mitre saw and a utility knife to slice the slip I tend toward a larger disk blade as it saves me changing it when I'm cutting thicker timber. With a great deal of care it is easy peasey to mitre link joints on skirting and even architrave when necessary as the lower down the blade is the straighter the cut.

Hope this helps
Hugh
