Concrete Paver as a BBQ Fire Base

by KDM » Tue Aug 02, 2022 8:45 am

Hi.
I'm planning on rebuilding my brick barbecue. In the last few years, I've gone through two steel firetrays. They get heated, cooled, left out in the rain... I'm not surprised they burn out.
I've noticed that some folk pour their own concrete fire trays. I have sourced a 900x600 50mm thick concrete paving slab. Would it work as a fire tray, or is it likely to succumb to the repeated heating and cooling and fail miserably?
Thanks.

Hi kdm,
If the paving slab is one of the old council slabs they were pretty bulletproof. If it's a modern imitation you have, I doubt it will last.
