Condensation on circular single glazed windows

by gene1888 » Tue Nov 01, 2022 2:13 pm

I have 2 circular windows which are only single glazed and they seem to generate large amounts of condensation. I recently stripped the wood surrounding them as the room is getting renovated. My questions are 1. Is there anyway to stop this condensation without having to install double glazing? as I dont really have the funds for that. 2. Is there something I could treat the wood with to prevent the water affecting it over time? 3. Should I be using a special sealant around the window as there is going to be water present alot of the time?
Many thanks.

Hi gene1888,
Regular painting is probably the best way to extend the life of the frame. You could try sticking a circular piece of plastic onto the frame - a continuous ring of sealant is essential.

Hi thanks for the reply, I recently painted it but the photos attached show the stains.

Hi gene188,
Did you use oil based paint or an emulsion paint?
