Condensation Water Leak From Sink Copper Supply Pipes

by grahamjenkin9 » Wed Jun 23, 2021 2:58 pm

Copper supply pipes to kitchen sink chased in brick external wall predominantly behind glass splashback
Have exposed pipes following water seaping below worktop
No apparent leak but chase very wet
Am letting dry out
Has this been caused by condensation? Brickwork become saturated over time chase sealed by glass splashback
What is the way forward?
Insulate/lag both pipes? How do I reinstate the wall? Any assistance would be appreciated

Hi grahamjenkins9
There is no way to stop the condensation problem completely. Your mains water is probably at 5dec C and the dew point in your kitchen will be well above this. You could try replacing the copper pipe with plastic pipe and insulating the pipe in the wall as well.
