hi guys,
i am looking at building my own edwardian conservatory, i have the base sorted and have purchased the panels and doors, but i have not yet found an edwardian roof, i have contacted numerous roof companies etc and the prices are all over £1000 just for the roof on a supply basis only, i have found a second hand one near me thats only 2 year old, sounds great but its bigger than my requirements, it is about 570mm too long and 350mm too wide, does anyone know if i can cut this roof to fit my required dimensions, and would i need any specialist tools etc, the roof is only £200 !!, any help would be appreciated, thanks lee

It might be possible to remake the roof but it depends on what the structural members are made of and what the glazing is (If its double glazing units the answer is no straightaway)

the glazing is the usual polycarbonate roofing panels, 15 in total and i assume the structure is pvc with metal inside ?

You should be OK shortening the glazing bars, the roof panel can be cut shorter but you will need some new breathable sealing tape for the ends.

if i do alter the roof, how would i go about adjusting the sections in size to fit ?

there are 15 poly sections , comprising of 4 whole panels each side of the peak and then the rest making up the front of the roof and the slope down, hope this makes sense, so do i cut a bit of all the panels to keep the shape ?

the roof is 22cms too wide and 57cms too long , its an edwardian for reference.

try to keep the overall roof shape and shorten all glazing bars on their lower edge, keep the lower edge of the poly panels and cut off the top edge. If you need to reduce the overall length reduce the first panel only and keep all the others standard size.
