Could this be damp in room skimmed 5 years ago

by Melissagray2 » Sun Dec 10, 2023 12:49 pm

At a loss at this wall, the room was skimmed five years ago and then recently a patch of new plaster came off in the middle of the wall.
There was a loose brick next to the patio doors so that this put in properly and the outside wall has recently been repointed. We then had the wall freshly plastered and painted but the damp patch has come back. Any ideas what could be causing it? We’ve noticed a slug there this morning but no idea how it’s getting in

Hi melissagray2,
There are two immediate possibilities:
The central heating pipe or fittings are leaking. Check the exposed pipe and joints above floor level when the heating is off.
The cable has been sleeved though the wall using teal pipe. If this is the case you will have to remove the sleeving.
Regards S
