what is the best way to stop the leak under the plastic coving
will I have to replace the bottom row of tiles and then replace and
use silicone?

These trims are such a pain, they leak so often, and they are almost impossible to repair. Water and mould gets trapped under them and nothing will create a good seal.

For a better seal, ensure the bath is firmly fixed to the wall, tile down to the bath leaving only a 3mm gap between bath and tiles. Fill the gap with a generous bead of silicone.

If the seal ever fails, cut out, clean, replace with new silicone. Job done!
