Creating a floating corner shelf using a rectangular piece of wood

by ginlane » Sat Jun 18, 2022 1:59 pm

Hello,
I set myself the task of making a floating corner shelf for our television, however the piece of wood I have is a rectangle and I know for sure that the corner is not 90° and has bulges. This is my first woodwork task and am hoping I can be given some simple instructions on how to make my shelf flush with the wall.
Thanks, Gin

Hi ginlane,
If it's an internal corner, hold the shelf in place, hold a pencil vertically on the wall and draw a line on the shelf. You can do this progressively until you get the fit you require.
If it's an external corner cut the shelf roughly to give you a corner L, then do the same as for an internal corner.
Regards S
