Damp behind mual wallpaper in bedroom?

by wonker » Thu Jul 15, 2021 5:54 pm

Hi All,

We got a really nice mural wallpaper and got it put up in my son's bedroom by a decorator a few months back and it looked really nice. However, when pulling the cot away from the wall (even though it's not right up against it) you can see this in the picture. It's weird as it's not wipeable so it doesn't look like condensation damp, but it feels like there are little pimply kind of lumps behind the wallpaper. Any ideas what it could be? Do you think that it is damp?

Cheers!

Hi wonker
Most likely to be damp coming through the wall and the lumps you can feel are the salts carried in the damp.
Presumably you are in an older house with solid walls and it could either be rising damp or rain penetration.
