damp/condensation

by mel slater » Sun Feb 15, 2009 1:20 pm

We are suffering from mould patches within a fitted wardrobe built into a corner of the bedroom formed by two 9" solid external walls, (1930's house).
Having tried battening and reboarding, (only using hardboard), in a attempt to create a cavity with gaps top and bottom to encourage airflow the problem still persists.
I am now thinking of dismantelling the wardrobes and lining the walls with 2" polystyrene, polythene barrier and plasterboard, and then refitting the units.
The question is because of the lack of ventilation generally within a wardrobe will the problem remain.

Yes. You have a ventilation problem caused by poor air circulation. No amount of wall lining is going to solve it I'm afraid.

Cheers
