Damp/conndensation on inside of walls

by SScyner » Sat Jan 10, 2009 8:27 pm

Our bungalow has a problem with condensation - large cavity under the house and all rooms have wooden floorboards. We are about to fit carpets to try and warm house up but on decorating have noticed rounded damp patch on the inside wall above the skirting board at the point where the air brick is situated on the outside of the house. Any ideas what could be causing this - ie some other kind of damp problem.

SScyner,
Probably due to a defect with the installation of the air brick and its liner. If this is the only point where this problem is occurring you will need to remove the air brick, make sure the liner is sloping down to the outside and clear any build-up of mortar on top of the liner.
