Hi, We live in a mid 1800's Victorian house built on a slope. The cellar at the front of the house is wholly underground and the entire front wall and parts of both adjacent walls are very damp. The walls are a stone and brick construction and completely enclosed on the outside by earth. What is the best (pound for pound) way of treating this myself ... no chance of getting someone in I'm afraid.

It is possible to DIY tank the walls and if you contact the sponsors in our Damp proofing projects ( Lectros) they will be able to sell you the correct products for this. It involves mixing together a latex liquid and a cement based powder to coat the wallls and form a waterproof skin on the inside. The inside walls must be prepared absolutely 100% as per instructions though or the bond you create will not work.
