Damp Proofing! Request for advice

by dhsingh » Mon Apr 21, 2008 8:49 pm

Could somebody please advice whether it is essential for DPC in the brick work should make one continous layer with the DPM of the floor/oversight?
If these two (DPM & DPC) are seperatly laid (but approximated by cement) this will allow damp or not
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

DHS,

BRIDGING THE GAP WITH MORTAR WILL ALLOW DAMP/WATER INGRESS.

IF I UNDERSTOOD YOUR POST CORRECTLY, YOU NEED TO JOIN ANOTHER CONTINUOUS SHEET/DPM TO THE EXISTING DPM THAT WILL ALLOW IT TO BE EITHER LET IN UNDER DPM/MORTAR JOINT AND/OR JOINED.

THESE JOINS CAN BE ACHIEVED BY USING BITUMIN MASTIC APPLIED CONTINUOUSLY WITH A CARTRIDGE GUN.

ALDA.
