Damp wet concrete\plaster smell

Hi for a while now ive been smelling a wet plastery smell ive recently decorated and replaced skirting board, to reveal that the skirting on outside wall was wet!! also the plaster was wet and has perished leaving the brick on show which is also vissibly wet. Weve had a problem with water build up against the external brick, but hasnt gone over the damp course??? can anyone help as to why this maybe happening

Hi mate

No one can tell you what it is with out looking at it. Best advice I can give is to get a damp serveyor to take samples to see how wet it is and to check for salts. This will set you back £80 to £200. Please don't be tempted to ring a company who say free surveys. There is no such thing , they will all tell you its rising damp. Rememmber most rising damp cases are false. Good luck
