Decking above dpc and avoiding damp issues

Post by titaniumviper » Sun Jun 07, 2015 1:39 am

Hello
I'm sure this question has been asked plenty of times so I apologise in advance if I'm repeating this subject.

I want to build some decking on top of the original patio. Unfortunately the dpc is extremely low and it will be impossible for me to have the decking below this.

My question is How far away will I have to leave leave the decking from the house to avoid a build up of damp as doing multiple Google searches I've found answers ranging from 5mm to 20mm which is a considerable difference.
