Does a combi boiler require a thermostat? Information, help and advice on many gas related subjects from gas fires to domestic appliances

I've just had my combi boiler replaced. The old boiler was controlled by a seperate thermostat. The new one is not connected to the thermostat control. The new one has internal temperature controls for the central heating and the hot water. My question is whether the boiler should have a separate central heating thermostatic control or can I just rely on the internal one.
The fitter said I can just use the internal one and that it measures the temperature of the returning water. But the control itself indicates that it is governing the boiler temperature ... I don't want it just maintaining the boiler temperature as that does not correspond to the temperature being created in the house.

By regs, it should have had a Room Thermostat Fitted to act as a boiler interlock. If the system is left to rely on the boiler stat then it will cycle when the system gets to temp which means it will keep going on and off.
This isnt as efficient as having a Room Thermostat.

just run two wires from your old stat to the new boiler take out the loop wire and connect it up check manual to make shore you are connecting in write place put boiler on turn up stat if boiler does not lite revease wires
