I am in the middle of fitting a new bath/shower with bath filler and shower head fed from a thermostatic valve and diverter.
I need to fit a shower head to internal 22mm copper pipework - the pipe and connection needs to hold the head secure as the wall will be fitted over with plasterboard and tile and the shower head has no fixings to stop it twisting and turning.
The shower head pipe is 1/2" parallel threaded stainless/chrome (like a basin tap). It needs to protrude out the wall at a right angle to the supply pipe which is horizontal.
My supplier first suggested a flexi tap hose but I explained it must be rigid to help hold the head in place so he suggested a 22mm x 3/4" female iron elbow with internal threaded adaptor ring to take it down to 1/2". I've fitted it up but to maintain the angle I can't screw it up tight so the whole thing will be prone to turn and twist as soon as anyone adjusts the swivel head - surely the joint may eventually work so loose as to leak? He says thread it with putty and it should set itself - but does regular plumber's mait ever set? - or is there some sort of suitable thread sealant that cures hard - or should I be looking at a different joint altogether - or securing the shower head in a different fashion?
